Rotary Club of Bastrop County project “Rainwater collection for home and communities”

Summary: The proposed project is on “rainwater collection”, will include a local hands-on pilot project for learning principals and initial use, and addresses a Rotary area of focus on “water”.

Description: The proposed project on “rainwater collection” will include a local hands-on pilot project for learning principals and initial use and addresses a Rotary area of focus on “water”.  Water is essential for life (human, animal, and plants) and can be a major challenge in many areas of the U.S. and elsewhere in the world.  The proposed project will include local pilot/test projects to provide opportunities for members and people in the community to learn the principals of rainwater collection (especially for potable water).  Rainwater collection provides an approach (if done correctly) to provide high quality, potable water for homes and communities.  This project will leverage upon business partners and subject matter experts including Texas Rain :: Home (texas-rain.net).  Pilot/test projects are planned at one or more locations in the Bastrop TX area.  These pilot/test will be done in partnership with experts in this area and will provide a learning opportunities and initial operation use of this approach for water.  Lessons learned can be applied to other areas in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world.  This project can complement other Rotary Club projects.
