Austin's 98th Honor Flight

thank you

 Rotarian robert Lindsey

Austin’s own Honor Flight returned from Washington, DC this past weekend.  This 98th Austin Flight carried 47 veterans on a trip to the nation’s Capital, where they visited Arlington Cemetery, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, plus other revered locations.

One of those honored veterans was our own Rotarian Robert Lindsey. Robert served in the U. S. Army
from 1964-66. He trained at Ft. Polk, Louisiana
and Ft. Lewis, Washington. As a surgical technician and a medic, Robert was stationed
with the 94th Evac Hospital in Nha Trang, Viet Nam. Robert won’t speak much about his service, but we are very proud to have him in our Club.

Of the 47 veterans on the Flight, one had served in WW II. He was 100 years old, and still sharp!  Four were Korean War veterans, and two fought in Cold War Era conflicts. The remaining 40 veterans all served in Viet Nam.

Thank you for your service.

Robert's family surprised him on his return to Austin.
