Bastrop Mayor Ishmael Harris asked Rotarians to “Jump on the Train!” and help Bastrop become the best community possible for the people who live here.

He emphasized the need for more jobs locally that would mitigate the need for workers to commute to Austin, and listed a variety of efforts to improve the Bastrop experience: improvements at Mayfest Hill to accommodate events other than rodeos; street improvements; the safety upgrades to the “Old Steel Bridge” to enable returning it to a pedestrian walkway in the Park Trail system; and considerations of a three-hole golf course near Film Alley.

Rotarian Elizabeth Clarke handed the Mayor his traditional coffee mug.

Limited Time Paul Harris Campaign - Update 7
Dear Michal,

We're now a week into the second half of this year's Fall match campaign and we're still going great guns.  During the first 49 days, 130 Rotarians representing 29 clubs have pledged a total of $105,938!

Significantly, 84 of these 130 contributors have either become a first-time Paul Harris Fellow or reached a new Paul Harris Fellow level by virtue of their contribution and its match.  Congratulations!

If you're one of the 130 who has already contributed, thank you so very much for your generous contribution.  If you haven't contributed yet, please consider doing so. It's your annual contribution to this fund that ensures District 5870 has the wherewithal to provide community DAP Grants, career and technology scholarships, district service projects and international humanitarian grants.  None of this would be possible without your support.
